How to apply for Nigerian Student Loan
So many students are still asking his same question How do i apply for Federal government student loan? even when the platform have recorded over 60,000 applicants. For those who dont know how to apply just follow this simple step.
To apply for the Nigerian Student Loan through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), follow these steps:
Visit the NELFUND Portal: Go to the official student loan portal at portal.nelf.gov.ng (Nigerian Education Learning Platform).
When you get on the homepage, click on “Apply Now” as shown bellow:
Clicking on apply now will to you to a page that looks like the picture bellow welcoming you to student loan portal.
Then click on get started and select whether your a Nigerian or not. If your a Nigerian tick the firrst option and tick verify your educational information.
Enter your school information by selecting your institution and matric number. When your done click on “verify your student status” and enter your JAMB registration number and select your date of birth as shown bellow:
Your JAMB registration number and your date of birth must be correct for the system to work. You may receive error the first time you try but you have to keep trying for it to work.
Enter your NIN
Once you done verifying your JAMB profile your will be prompted to enter your National identification number (NIN). Once your enter your NIN it will automatically detect your profile and your name will appear under your NIN number.
Make sure you used the email address used during your NIN registration.
Enter your preferred password and click “Create account” . If everything went well you will receive verification message click on the link to verify your email and login to your account.
Login
Once you have confirmed the email login to your account and couplet your profile. Your likely to get error the first time you login but you have to make sure you keep trying and ensure the email and password is correct.
When you have successfully login you need to fill in the remaining information.
- Your contact information
- Residents address
- State
Your educational details
Once your through with the step above go ahead and fill in your educational details that is your institution and matric number. Once your fill in those details correctly it will automatically your course, academic sessions, and your department.
Your account details
Click on account details and enter your BVN, bank name and bank account number. Once done with that click on ” complete profile creation” a new page will pop up telling you congratulation for updating your student loan profile.
Apply for loan
When your done updating your profile click on “request for loan” you see option to add additional upkeep allowance of N20,000 per month apart from the free tuition loan select it if you want.
Then upload your JAMB letter of admission and school ID card.
Finally upload your loan approval and wait for their message.
Note: Is only federal institutions that are qualified to participate at this moment. The loan will be paid to your institution behalf of you.
